The first follow-up assessments took place approximately 24 months after the first examination and the second after 48 months.

Baseline: 1.321 participants

Follow-up 1: 1.113 participants

Follow-up 2: 1.014

Each participant underwent a comprehensive clinical evaluation that incorporated social, medical and psychological examinations. All assessments were carried out at the Golgi Cenci Foundation with the exception of examinations of participants with significant health problems, which took place at their homes.

Dementia and other mild cognitive impairments
Protective vs. Risk factors

Goals

The goals of the InveCe.Ab study are:

To estimate the prevalence and incidence of dementia and its subtypes, mild cognitive impairment, and cognitive impairment with no dementia in people 70 to 74 years of age at baseline.

To investigate the potential risk or protective value of various epidemiologic, clinical, and biological factors as determinants of the quality of cognitive aging and dementia onset. Special attention is given to understanding how modifiable risk factors impact cognitive impairment with and without dementia.
