same self-administered questionnaire used for the follow up of women in the Swedish Mammography Cohort in year 1997: modifiable lifestyle factors such as diet, physical activity, smoking, weight, use of dietary supplements, some prescribed drugs, alcohol intake in addition to some gender specific questions.
2008:
questionnaire: general health status, disease diagnoses, current weight, height, waist and hip circumferences, dental health, medication use, sleep habits, urine and bowel habits, family history of selected diseases, stress, and social support.
2009: questionnaire: diet and alcohol intake (132-item FFQ), dietary supplements, smoking, physical activity, and sun habits.
2019: same questionnaires as in 2008/2009.
2020: extended with information about genetic variation/GWAS-data
Clinical subcohort ( 2010 -2019):
men 75 years and living in Västerås received cognitive phone interview

health examination (same data collection as in the female clinical subcohort Uppsala (weight, height, waist, hip, and blood pressure measurements), but with body composition measurement using a bio-electrical impedance scale instead of dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) scan. Samples of fasting blood, urine, and adipose tissue were also collected at the health exam.
Second round (2021 – ongoing) following the procedure for the first round, but adding a cognitive interview and a DEXA scan
2014 researchers at Örebro University and Örebro hospital started collecting blood samples (whole blood, plasma and serum) from members of the Cohort of Swedish Men with incident urological cancer (prostate, kidney, bladder and penile cancer). Urine is additionally collected from prostate cancer patients.
Causes of chronic diseases
To assess a wide range of modifiable lifestyle factors (diet, dietary supplements, physical activity, smoking, alcohol, body weight and other anthropometric measures, etc.) and genetic factors in a large population-based longitudinal cohort of Swedish middle-aged and elderly men.
